We are on hold. We want to get on with our trip as planned but can't for reasons previously detailed so the only option left is to make the best of it.
We drove into Boston this morning to have a late breakfast with Carrie, Josh and Ben. After breakfast we wheeled Ben to the Public Garden with their famous Swan Boats and ducks (Susie recommends "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey). It is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Boston (the Boston Common is next door). This took us nearly two hours and was a pleasant way to spend a morning. For more about the Public Garden go to http://www.swanboats.com/new/public_garden.shtml. After our walk and lunch we headed back to the campground. A rather quiet day, but who is complaining. |

Ben and Josh in the Public Garden. Ben seems quite interested in the ducks, geese and other creatures in the park.

There are a number of statues and fountains in the Public Garden. The relative position of these two made it look as though George Washington is looking down on the girl and wondering what she is doing with the bird.
As we were walking back to the South End, Susie spotted this building. It appears to have been a Synagogue dating back to 1872 and now functioning as a 7-Eleven with apartments on the upper floors.
